I was on the skis around 4:00 near some trees and I see this beetle moving on the snow.
This is a close up shot, it was about 2.5 cm long.
Some sunny breaks with light wind, low temp was -1 and a high of 6. 15 km on EB in morning. I attended a meeting at the University from 10:00 to 2:00 PM. I went out on the skis at 3:00 for 75 minutes. I watched the women's curling this evening.

What kind of beetle? A sure sign of an early spring. cocoa
ReplyDeleteI heard on CBC Quirks and Quarks that a species of beetle has a larvae that can withstand -80 C. It has a protein that prohibits freezing (or something like that).
