Tuesday

Seems like we have had a lot of rain. But today started at 34 F but by afternoon it was up to 60+ so I was able to go cycling for a couple of hours and logged 33 km. But rain forecast for next two days.

South Carlina

After three days on the road, arrived Thurday to 80f weather. I was cycling for thirty minutes yesterday but raining all day today with the temp in mid 50's f.

Birds

Two robins and a white bird, I don't know what the white bird is. For a song it was doing two tweets, then after a few seconds, repeating them.
Some pigeons at the north river spillway.

The black birds have arrived, they were in several trees, my guess is about 200 in the flock.
Mostly sunny at +4. This morning I was to the town hall and the chicken barn. About 3:00 I when out on the bicycle and cycled around Cornwall and over to the Queens Arms intersection logging 26 km. This evening I started putting items in the car for the trip to South Carolina.
So I will not be posting every day for a few days.

Sunlight on trees

I was out for a walk though the woods around 7:00 PM and the sun was starting get low.

Still snow in the woods. It was sunny at zero. I was to Montague in the afternoon to visit relatives and then after supper had a 45 minute.

Robins

When I was out walking today I came across some robins, six in all, but only got three in photo.

This tree had the bark eaten by the mice, they don't usually take this big a tree.

There were a lot of small trees missing bark as well.
Snow flurries at -3 all day. This morning I had breakfast with the firefighters, had a 40 minutes walk in the afternoon. I was to Cornwall for a church supper, to Hampshire to cards this evening.

Bare fields

This field has lost most of the snow, also it had a lot of field mice enjoying the cover of grass.

When you look close , the mice tunnels are everywhere.

Even the ball field is starting to lose its snow cover. Showers most of the day at a high of 6, windy as well, 40 gusting to 70 km/h.
I was in Charlottetown this morning, spend time on tax papers after lunch and went for a 40 minutes walk in late afternoon between showers. I saw a fox while out but unable to get a photo of it.

West River

Still lots of ice in the West River, note the clear blue sky.

A good flow of water in the creek next to Kellow drive in Cornwall.

This is the North river north of the bridge, compared to the photo of a couple of days ago, the channel is now open. today it was sunny with a high of 6.
I was out on the bike around town this afternoon and logged 25 km. Late afternoon I cut down a couple trees (black walnut) for a neighbor. Not many black walnut trees around these parts.

Hillsborough river

This is the Hillsborough river near Pisquid looking south, Although you can't see them, there is a lot of Canada geese in the area. I could hear them very clearly.

The river is opening up near the bridge in Mount Stewart, this photo is looking north.
Mostly sunny with a high of 5 today and a 30-35 km/h wind out of the southwest.
I was hiking in the Pisquid are this morning. I had friends visiting this afternoon and was invited to supper in Stratford this evening.

River ice

The river is starting to open up, this photo is looking south from the bridge.

This is looking north from the bridge, this use to be the lake. I can see that the channel is starting to open. Sunny at +1 with light south wind. I was cycling around town this afternoon and rolled on 25 km. I went to cards in Warren Grove this evening.

Flowing creek

The water in the creek is almost up to the foot bridge crossing the creek.



This video clip was taken a 200 meters down stream from the bridge. Overcast with a few snow showers at a temp of -2, A 20-25 km/h breeze as well. I visited neighbours at the chicken barn, then to the Charlottetown mall to do some errands. I was out on the s shoes for a hour this afternoon.

The start of cycling

About 5:00 I got out on the old bike, I made a trip around Cornwal putting on 15 km.
The day was mostly sunny at a high of +6.

I was to Montague this afternoon to attend a funeral. I am getting ready to watch the final curling game.

March 12

Light rain at +9 is really eating into the snow, a lot more water flowing in the creek.

I was out on the S shoes for 50 minutes mid afternoon. Still lots of snow on the trails in the woods.
The edge of the field by the woods is starting to bare off.
I was in Charlottetown this morning and after my walk watched the Howard team beat Martin in a close game. There is a evening game starting at 8:30.

What is it quiz

I spend the day at the Farm show in Moncton. Can anyone tell me what the equipment in the two photos is used for?

It was overcast and +5 today. I had two neighbors with me at the Farm show. Lots of equipment on display. I plan on watching the curling tonight.

Nice winter land scene

I had the 07 car to the dealership for a recall on steering this morning. Doing some visiting in Stratford in the afternoon and to another wake this evening. Now going to watch curling for the rest of the evening.

Winter stream

I was out for 40 minutes on the snowshoes, the little stream in the woods now has some open water with the snow melt

It was mostly a sunny day with a zero temp. I was to the town office this morning, Island Trails meeting in late afternoon and a firefighters meeting this evening.

Walk in the snow

It was sunny at zero when I was out on the snowshoes, a really nice day for the walk.

There was two other people out on the snowshoes. I attended a Trail Officer meeting this morning, This evening had a pancake supper at the church. And the I was at Warren Grove to play cards. I won the 50/50 draw.

Birch tree

I was out on the snowshoes for 40 minutes in late afternoon. There is this nice yellow birch tree by the trail. The warm weather has taken all the snow of the trees, it was up to +8 today.

This is the top part of the same tree, and you can see that the trees are bare of snow.
I visited some neighbors at the chicken barn this morning and my sister this afternoon.
I now getting ready to watch curling this evening.

Crow in tree

I was out on the snowshoes and this crow was keeping a eye on me as I came along the hedge row. Mostly cloudy and windy at a temp of 9

There was one other person out on snowshoes in the woods but this track along the edge of the field had no one else using it. Watched curling this after noon and getting ready to watch the evening game.

Blowing snow

This is the snow from my snowblower, When you are using the blower, it looks like a solid stream of snow, but with the camera stopping it midair, I can see the snow that each paddle on the blower throws out.

I was out shoveling a bit of snow when a couple of neighbors that were snowshoeing in the ball field, stopped to give me a wave.
As part of the 55+ games, I played 15 games of pool, we started around 11:00 and it was 1:30 PM when I finished. I watched some curling late afternoon and plan to watch this evening game.
Sunny this morning, cloudy and windy this evening at zero.

Spin cycling at 55+ games

A couple of the guys are getting warmed up for the event, these machines are a far cry from what I have at home.

I believe the whole class ended up with medals, I was able to do the 20 km under 40 minutes and I think I was the slowest.

I was out on the snowshoes for a hour and yesterday I had pic squirrel tracks, today I got a pic of a squirrel.
The official temp at the airport was -10, at our house it was showing -6 but in the sun at the edge of the woods it felt like zero. The forecast for Sunday is a temp of 10.

Snow day

A sunny day at -10 with wind, maybe 40 km/h. The 55+ games skiing was canceled.

I believe these tracks were made by a squirrel, there is a few squirrels around.
I was out on the snow shoes for a hour in late afternoon.

Ski tracks in snow

I was able to go down this little hill five times, snow was a little crusted but made for fast downhill.

It was sunny at +2 but was starting to cloud up as I took this pic. Forecast is for 5 cm of snow and windy. It was windy all day 40 gusting to 70 km/h.
I was snowshoeing in the morning and out on the skis in late afternoon and attended a Radio club meeting this evening.

Snow on roof

I was on the roof today clearing snow of the skylight, about 40 cm over it.

I was out on the skis for a hour, only a couple of snowshoers were ahead of me.
We had 20+ cm of snow last night followed by a bit of rain, it crusted the snow enough to stop the drifting. I was 40 minutes clearing the walk and driveway with the blower.

It was sunny at -2 mid afternoon, A nice clear day with a few clouds.
I was to Warren Grove to play cards, I won third place.
