Apple blossons

I was to Charlottetown in the morning doing some errands, I though because of the rain the construction crew would not be working. They are milling the old pavement.

I was cycling this evening, Hampshire to Darlington, this apple tree was along the side of the trail.

When we started at 6:30 there was mist in the air but by the turning point it had stopped.
It was rain and showers all day with a temperature of 15.

Breadalbane trail

This morning with 11 other hikers we hiked the long loop of the Breadalbane trail, 6.7 km.

Beavers had dropped this poplar tree across the trail, I used my camp saw to cut it and move it of the trail.

The Dunk river as seen from the bridge in Breadalbane.
I spend the afternoon mowing the lawn and weeding in the garden. I was to Warren Grove for cards, the last night for the season.
Mostly sunny at a cool 10.

The hedge looked like this before I started.

I borrowed a electric saw, once sharpened  it worked amazing well.

With one tree down and the tops of three others, it has a difference look.
I visited with neighbors in morning and the Sherwood ride was canceled because rain.
The high temperature was 10

After lunch I attended a workshop on tree pruning at Red Oak Landscaping.

I drove to North Wiltshire and cycled west on the trail to Glen Valley and return.
These stairs are in Hunter River  and cross the creek to the school playground.
It was a mixed day with sun, cloud and scattered showers at 10 and very windy.

Saturday, May 25, 2013

Late afternoon I went for a walk in the woods, I took a little saw with me.
I cleared some smaller windfalls but the larger one will need the chain saw.

The spruce trees are showing new green on the tips.
I was to a funeral this morning for one of the Radio Club members and to Hampshire for cards this evening.

I was cycling in the Mt Stewart area this morning, this potato planter plants six roes at a time.

Lots of tulips at the intersection of route 22.

I did some yard work and planted my gladiolas in the afternoon. there was rain forecast but it never came but it was windy with gusts to 70 km/h. The temperature was a nice 21.
I was to Hunter River for cards.

A great crop of dandelions.

It was overcast most of the day with rain in the forecast but the rain never came, temperature was up to 17.
So I was able to cycle just in shirt & shorts.

I went cycling around 5:00, there were hundred's of Cormorant's in the Charlottetown harbour.

This section of the trail is in Winsloe, lots of green now with the trees leafing out.
This fox was in the new business park off the Upton road. I was cycling for a couple of hours.
I visited my sister in the afternoon, she was hosting her annual barbeque for the family.
A sunny day but a bit cool at a high of 8.

Saturday, May 18, 2013

Rain at 2 for most of the day, around 5 I went for a walk in the woods by the ball field. The vegetation on the ground is starting to green.

Deeper in the woods there are wind falls across the trail, I will need to bring in the chain saw to clear them.
I had breakfast with the firefighters, then was at a couple of lumber yards getting some material.
I spend most the afternoon in the shop tiding up.

Chain saw with sawdust

This morning I cut down a stump and blocked it for a neighbor. It sure made lots of sawdust and took four tanks of gas in the saw. The saw has a 24" bar and the stump was a meter across.
This evening I cycled with a group that started in Hampshire, there were 10 in the group, a good number for first evening.

This grain field in North Wiltshire is really growing, some interesting patterns in the rows.
We had rain in the morning and the sun was peeking out in the evening, a high temperature of 10.

The bike loaded on the rack and ready to go to Charlottetown.
Note how green the lawn is, I mowed the lawn after lunch.

I took park in the Ride of Silence this evening, about two dozen riders turned out for the ride.
That is Beaconfield house in the background.
The bike lane at Victoria Park was the starting point for the ride. The white bike is a "ghost bike" , a symbol for the ride in memory of rides that have been killed riding.
In the photo Mark was telling us the rules and then gave a short prayer, we then rode around Charlottetown for about 12 km.
It was raining in the morning but cleared before noon. It was about 10 degrees at time of the ride.

In the woods

Rain on & off all day with a warm 15. After lunch I took a walk in the local woods.
The ferns are coming up.

The wind blew over this lodged tree, looks to be very solid so will stay up for a long time.
Some water flowing in the little creek and making a nice sounds as it flows over debris.
