South Carolina day 10

Another nice day at 21 with sun and light breeze.
After lunch drove to Greenwood and when I got back went cycling for 90 minutes on back roads, logged 28 km.

South Carolina day 9

Sunday was clear, windy at 15. I was cycling for 90 minutes (logged about 27 km) At the time I was cycling winds were 30-35 km but a hour after I was back, winds were gusting to 65 km.
This morning no wind, clear at 4 but forecast high for the day is 22.

No cycling yesterday or today. about 25 mm of rain yesterday. Fore cast for today is up to 50 mm of rain with thunderstorms during the afternoon. Some sun in the forecast for Sunday & Monday.

South Carolina day 5

Very light rain yesterday, maybe 5-6 mm with temp around 10. More rain forecast for today. No cycling yesterday.
Boiled peanuts taste like, um um peanuts. Who knows what they are boiled in, and it may be better not knowing.

South Carolina day 4

Temp was 73F with sun and light wind. Forecast for today is rain.
Cycling on back roads again, on bike for 75 minutes and logged 24 km.
Treat for the day was boiled peanuts.

South Carolina day 3

Yesterday the temp reached 79F with sun and no wind.
Went cycling on back roads north on town, out for a hour and logged 20 km. In the evening drove to Columbra to have supper with friends.

South Carolina

The weather today was sunny, high of 71F and very light wind. Tuned up a borrowed bicycle and rode 16 km around this side of town.

Arrived in SC 6:30 PM Saturday. Temp was 15, sun and no wind.
Travelled 2650 Km in the three days. Price of gasoline here is 1.89 a gallon.

Spending the night in Portsmouth New Hampshire. Light rain at + 2 when I left home, the weather cleared by the time I got to Fredricton, Temp in southern part on Maine was around 10 with sun.
0 km on EB, no skiing and no cycling today.

Skiing


Photo shows patches where the snow cover is starting to thin out on the fields.
I was out skiing for a hour this afternoon, temp was +5 and the snow was soft, wax not helping.
I expect it was my last time skiing for this season as I leave for a couple weeks south in the morning.
I will try to post every couple days but not likely have many photos.

Snow covered fields


Cocoa is the winner, he/she was right, that the tracks are of a dirt bike.
Photo shows lots of snow on the fields, ski tracks are 3 / 4 days old.
Nice day here today, light wind, sunny and temp had to be on the plus side, but I didn't get to enjoy any of it as I was in meetings from 9:45 to 6:30 PM.

Tracks in snow


Photo is of unusual tracks in the snow, any guesses as to what made the tracks?
Temp was around -1 with light wind and sun, a very nice day. The sun is much stronger, even with minus temp, there is melting of the snow and ice.
I was skiing for 45 minutes this evening and 15 km on EB this morning.

More snow

Temp was near zero with mostly sun and light wind, forecast for night is -14

Coyote in field


As I was driving this morning, I saw the coyote crossing the field towards the highway, when I stopped the car it was less than 50 meters away. By the time I got the camera and got out it had turned and was trotting away and about 200 meters went I took photo.
Temp was up to +3 with a south breeze, mostly sunny this afternoon. It is zero as I blog this.
I started at 2:00 PM with Aspen and cycled around town for a hour or so, logged 20 km.

Back field


Photo is farmers back field, snow was crusty and icy, The skis were hardy making a mark on the snow. The tank that you can see in the background is the town water reservoir.
I waxed the skis three times in the hour I was out but the icy conditions just cleaned it off.
GPS unit indicated I skied 5 km and 15 km on EB this morning.

Pond


Photo is of a little pond in new subdivision, looks like it would be good for skating on, but no one using it yet.
Sunny at -4 here this afternoon but windy, some gusts to 90 km. A barn under construction in Summerside blew down.
Still watching a lot of curling, PEI not doing very well.
Did two sessions on EB, for a total of 30 km. No skiing because of the wind.

Confederation Trail


Photo is Confederation Trail in Milton, note the depth of snow by the gates, It will be a few weeks yet before I will be cycling on the trail. It is hard packed snow as the snowmobile club maintains the trail with a groomer.
Was out on the skis for a hour this afternoon, The GPS unit said I covered 5 km.

Aspen


At noon today it was sunny at -2 So I went cycling with Aspen (see photo), I cycled down to the West River in Primrose Point. 20 km and about 75 minutes.
I was out on the skis for 30 minutes this evening, With the time change, not dark until 7:30 PM.
I was to cards in Warren Grove this evening.

Fresh snow



I was out skiing this afternoon, full sun at -5 but felt like it was zero. I started out with dry wax but only went a few meters til I came back and put on one for a wetter snow. I hit it just right, ready good skiing, and I was the first one out, no other tracks. I was out for an hour.
One photo is the little hill that I glide down sometimes.
I soon as I post this I will be watching the curling from Calgary.

Truro


Photo taken this morning out the hotel window.There was over 10 cm of snow on the car by 10:00 AM. Curling results were 2 wins, 3 lost so did not make the final games on Sunday.
The snow made for poor driving, arrived home by 2:30 PM
Watched the 4:00 o'clock draw of men's curling, PEI team won.
I am getting ready to watch the 9:00 PM draw.
Temp here as I post this is zero with very light snow.

Curling in Truro

Sunny and cool here in Truro, got in at 4:00 PM. Forecast is -12 overnight.
Our team got our first game at 9:oo AM Friday morning, and two more in the afternoon.

Day 3 of ice storm


Sunny at -6 today with light wind. But not warm enough for the ice to melt of the trees.
I will be in Truro until Sunday, not sure if hotel has Inter net, if so I will try to post from there.

Light freezing drizzle most of the day, Car windows were clean at 4:00 PM, When I went out at 7:30, they were iced up again.Did not get warm enough to thaw of the ice

Skipped a curling game this morning. I am going to Truro Thursday for a fun curling bonspiel on the weekend. 15 km on EB.

River ice


Photo taken from bridge on highway, lots of ice for a while.
-6 now, and forecast is for 4 hours of freezing rain tonight.
Out on the skis for a hour, snow was icy in places from the rain yesterday.
I had the GPS unit with me, it shows that I travelled 4.8 Km, averaged 5 km/h with a maximum speed of 17 km/h. 20 km on EB
