This morning I started taking a five day course on silverculture, class room today and part of tomorrow.

I was to Vesey's to get a pair of chaps.
It was overcast with a drizzle most of the day at +4 but did clear in the evening but a cold north wind.

Snow is gone in this part of the woods, overcast with mist at +4.

I walked though the woods by the ballfield, still snow in places but none here.
I was to a roast beef dinner at the legion in New Haven.

Highway

I cycled to New Haven in the afternoon. This is where the old highway ends, about a km west of route 9.

The new highway looking east towards Charlottetown.

Looking west from the same location, at this point the new highway is a lot lower than the old one.
Sunny with a temperature of 7 but a north wind gust to 35 km/h at times.
I was cycling for over two hours and logged 36 km. I was to a church pancake breakfast in the morning.
Also raked some of the lawn in the evening as sunset is after 8:00 PM now.

Mice damage

Late afternoon I took a walk though the woods, these trees are in the back part of the ballfield.
The mice had a field-day because of the deep snow. The foxes were unable to get to them.

In some places the mice had eaten the roots of the trees.

The creek water flow is back to the normal levels.  It was overcast all day, mostly rain in the morning and occasional snow flurries late afternoon with the temperature around +1.  The wind was gusty at times and reaching 50 km/h.

Rain day

Rain all day, about 30 mm so far, temp at 4:00 was 2.

The old snow is almost all gone, just this bit in our back yard.

At 7:00 there was some snow flurries,  so I stepped out to get a photo and then this fox walked by. It did not pay any attention to me.

Victoria Park

I was cycling around Victoria park today, no sign of ice in the harbour. The wind was around 35 km/h, making for rough water.

This flock of seagulls were taking flight from a little pond in the park.
It was overcast with a temperature of 11

Woods trail.

I took a walk in the woods before lunch, still lots of snow on the trail in this area.

This part of the trail has cleared off very nicely.

This field has bared off completely.  After lunch I was out cycling for a couple of hours, I cycled to the Mall then on the Confederation trail for 10 km , then back home.
Sunny at +5 with a light wind.

New highway

After lunch I cycled again to Peter Pan, then to New Haven, about 500 meters farther then yesterday

It was overcast with a 20-25 km/h west wind with a temperature of 5.
It was more work going out but a lot faster on the return trip.

Sunrise and bluejays

At 6:25 the sun was coming up.

At lunch time this pair of bluejays were checking out the crabapple tree.

I cycled to the Peter Pan corner, then west to New Haven to where the new highway starts by the intersection to route 9. I then cycled home by the Ferry road logging 35 km.
Mostly sunny with a light wind and a temperature of 5.

new building and snow on trail

I started cycling on the trail at the Joe Ghiz park this afternoon. Near the Charlottetown mall there is a new building going up.
The Ghiz park is the start of the Confederation in Charlottetown.

I cycled about six km, just past the Sherwood road I stopped at this snow bank. It will take a few warm days before I will be cycling past it.
Mostly sunny at 5 with a cool wind out of the north.

Running water

It rained all morning but by late afternoon the sun came out so I took a walk though the woods.
The water in the creek was flowing very fast.

Still snow in the woods but the fields are nearly bare.

When the snow melted, the tree rolled over, some day I will need to take the power saw with me and finish cleaning it up.

Pussy willows

I was cycling near the Farmer's Market today, the duck is still around, it was in a pond of water in a field on the other side of the trail.

Also there were some pussy willows coming out, a sure sign of spring.

The North River north of the bridge had really opened up, just some drifting floes around today.
It was sunny with a high of 18 with a south wind around 50 km/h.

Snow fog

It was raining most of the day but cleared late afternoon. It was up to 10 when I took these pohotos.

The warm air is causing the fog to rise off the snow.  No cycling today.

Lost duck

When I was cycling this afternoon, I cycled the trail from the Farmer's market to MacAleer drive.
I saw this duck in the field across the highway from the Superstore. I am thinking it was considering neating in the area.
In the area of the Farmers market the trail is in good shape and dry. But It hit snow just before MacAleer drive.

This photo of the trail is in the Winsloe, it will be a couple weeks before I will be cycling in this area.
It was sunny with a light wind and a temperature of +4.  Forecast for tonight is freezing rain changing to rain with a high of 14 tomorrow.

Bare fields

A week ago there was a lot of snow on this field, now it is basically bare.
There was light rain around noon but by three the sun came out and temperature was up to 10. So I went out on the bike for 90 minutes. The tide was starting to go out, so the ice floes at the North River bridge were floating down stream.

Ellen creek

I cycled around Charlottetown in the afternoon, Ellen creek is almost ice free.

There were some ducks in the water at Ellen creek.

The south wind was blowing the ice floes back up the river, the incoming tide was helping as well.
It was overcast and a nice +10 temperature.
