Snow on the trees

I guessing about 5 cm of new snow.
A fair amount of the snow still on trees, I found that if I stayed away from the smaller trees I could cut the limbs on the big trees without too much falling on me. Even doing that I was wet to the skin after three hours in the woods.

Mostly cloudy all day at 2, a few breaks in the clouds in the late afternoon.
This morning I visited a neighbors at the chicken barn and was in the woods for the afternoon.

The trail seems to have a fair amount of traffic as it seems to be well used.
Overcast all day with rain late in the afternoon and evening at a high of 2
I am relaxing at home this evening and plan to watch Daily Planet in a few minutes.

This column of smoke was in the sky just after 1:00, I am guessing it came from the Firefighters training school.

The ball field is still covered in snow and on the horizon I can see a little break in the clouds.

I was in Charlottetown this morning and at the wood lot for three hours in the afternoon.

First snow fall

We received about 5 cm of snow overnight. Not much wind here so no drifting.

After lunch I went for a 45 minute walk, this nature is along the edge of the Cornwall business park.

If you look close, you can see animal tracks in the snow on the little bridge, I am guessing a fox but hard to tell as it snowed some after the tracks were made.
This afternoon I visited at Aunt that was celebrating her 90 th birthday.
This afternoon mostly sunny at zero, overnight low was -4

Wood lot trees

I spend a couple hours in the wood lot this morning, what I am doing is taking the lower branches off the pine trees.

This is what it looks like afterwards, I am removing the branches for about two meters.

Most of the trees are red pine but this one is white pine, notice the smooth bark and how evenly the branches are spaced.
It was mostly sunny in the morning but started snowing after lunch, about 5 cm on the ground now. It was -5 this morning and the high was zero.
I played cards in Hampshire this evening.

Kinkora

The Confederation trail goes through Kinkora.

A field of soybean been combined, this part of the field looked dry as there was some dust behind the machine.
Not as dry in this area, the combine came to a stop, although the wheels are still going around. Note the red mud, not sure how you unstuck a combine, do you pull it or do you push it?
Mostly sunny at a high of 7 and a light wind. After lunch another Trail Officer (TO) picked me up and we drove to Kinkora. We then cycled to Borden-Carleton and the back to Emerald and return to Kinkora logging 40 km.

Bridge building

I decided to use this fallen tree to bridge the creek

I used the cable hoist to pull the logs into place, notice the extra water flowing because it rained the day before.
It is now safe to walk across. This is where I was working when I stepped in deep water and fill my boot with water.

With some plywood it now has a deck and once we get snow, I should be able to ski across.
It was 0 with frost this morning, a high of 16 in the sun in afternoon.
I had breakfast with firefighters this morning, then raked some leaves. After lunch I helped a neighbor with the garage he is building. It would have been a good day to go cycling.
