Warm day

 I was cycling over the lunch hour, these ducks and seagulls were at Ellen's creek.

 The new Kent lumber store on Route to is taking shape.

It was -8 overnight but by midafternoon it was +10 and sunny. The snow in the ball field will soon be all gone.

Cycling day

After lunch I cycled into Charlottetown, this group of boys were enjoying some cycling on a parking lot in the east side of town
I cycled the usual loop of Charlottetown and to Winsloe and then on home, takes about two hours.
This photo is of the North River south of the bridge, channel is open but ice still in the inlet on the right side.
I was to cards in Hampshire this evening.

Sunny but cool day

It was sunny at 3 with a brisk west wind today, this is the North River looking north of the bridge.
 
Still lots of snow on the trail in Winsloe as seen from Route 2.
I cycled into Victoria park, then to the trail at Grafton street, then to the bypass highway, then Rte 2 to Winsloe, then the Lower Malpeque to Rte 1 and to Cornwall and back home logging 40 km.

Sunny day

 This is the North River south of the bridge, some ice floes drifting down river.

 I cycled to Victoria Park and took this photo of the harbour, no ice at all in it.

I then cycled to Grafton street and onto the trail. This photo of the fox was near the University, the trail was 90% dry.  I then cycled to Winsloe and on home, I was out for about two hours.
Also I was curling this morning, it will be the last time for this season.

Strathgartney trail

 There was 11 in the group hiking this morning, we started at the Bonshaw bridge so it was a little farther on the trail.
Light snow at times and it was sticking to the trees and melting on us.

The river is free of ice in this area.  No in the photo but I could hear them were a flock of geese.
The high temperature was 1.
I was to the wake of a fellow cyclist this evening.

Borden house

 It was a snow, drizzle type of day with a high of 1
After lunch I cycled to Cornwall, The old Borden house is in the corner of the Sunrise Cove subdivision.

It was dry when I cycled to Cornwall but there was ice pellets in the air on the way home.

There was snow in the air again by evening.

Grey skies

 I was near the sand pile at the Business park when I took these photos.

It was overcast with a bit of light snow in the air at +1
I visited with neighbors in the morning. After lunch I spend some time in the shop and then went for a walk.
I walked to the Business park, then to the York Point road and then took the sidewalk home.

Strathgratney Park

 I was snowshoeing at the park in the afternoon.

 I used the nature trail, a few people were ahead of me.

 I then went on the Goat trail, no one else using it today.

The Bonshaw river, totally free of ice. By the GPS unit I had gone 4 km when I got back to the car.
Later I cycled around Cornwall logging 15 km.
It was sunny with light wind at 5

Hampshire

I had breakfast with the retired firefighters in morning. Watched Canada lose curling in afternoon and went to Hampshire hall to play auction cards this evening.

Walk in woods

I took a walk though the wood lot today, this photo is of the dirt road along the edge, the only tracks are mine on snowshoes.

This section is red pine that has been thinned and lower branches removed.

This beech tree is still holding onto its leaves.
It was mostly sunny with a high of 5 and light wind.

Storm over

 We had about 15 cm of snow this morning at -5. It was over by noon, then a little rain, wind changed to the south and the temperature came up to +5. I used the blower to clear the drive.

Clearing this evening the sun peeked out just as it was setting. It was a good day for watching womens curling.

Ducks

 I was cycling after lunch, these ducks were in the water at Ellen's creek.

Some ice floes in the Charlottetown harbour. I cycled to Victoria Park, took the trail from Grafton st to the bypass, then over to the lower Malpeque road and then home. I was out about two hours, mostly sunny with a temperature of -4 with a wind chill of -10.
I watched the womens curling in the morning and to cards at Warren Grove this evening.

Evening walk

About 6:15 I went for a walk on the snowshoes, most places the snowshoes not needed.
The sun was shining though trees as I came down this trail.

Only a few clouds in the sky and the setting sun was making very long shadows.
 
The sun was was getting low just as I was getting home, temperature  was -6 with a brisk west wind.
I was walking for 75 minutes and walked over 4 km by the GPS unit.

Ice breaker

The Edward Cornwallus is tried up at the wharf in Charlottetown,  It was needed a couple of days ago to escort a tanker though the Northumberland strait.

The Hillsborough bridge as seen from the wharf, some drift ice still in the harbour, may be more ice as the forecast lows for the next couple nights are -13.
 
I cycled into Charlottetown, then to Winsloe and the to Cornwall and back home using the roads and streets. Mostly dry, even the bike lanes. This photo is on the Mount edward road.
It was -4 and mostly sunny with winds of 25, gusting to 35 km/h so the wind chill would be around -10.

More snow

 About 7 cm of fresh snow overnight. Temp was -2.

The sun came out and temperature got up to 2. I went for a walk with the snowshoes around 4:00.
Only a coyote had crossed the bridge before me. A strap get go on one snowshoe so I took them off and came home by the road.  To Hampshire to play cards tonight.

Curling

 I was at the Cornwall Curling Club trying my hand at curling, I could use some practice as this was the first time this season.

 I was cycling after lunch for about 20 km, there was light snow in the air as I was getting home.

By 6:30 there was enough snow to cover the grass, -1 at the time.

Cycling

 The water on the north side of the North River bridge was mud red from runoff from fields, also ice breaking and floating down stream.

This is the trail at Lower Malpeque road in Winsloe, no snowmobiles using it today. I cycled the trail from Grafton St to the bypass and it was totally dry.

 I cycled to Victoria park, lots of people using the boardwalk.

The water on the south side (downstream) of the North River bridge, the ice is moving out in this area..
Today I cycled to Charlottetown and then to Winsloe and back home logging 34 km for the ride.
It was mostly sunny at 6 with a moderate west wind.

Walk in woods

After lunch I went for a walk, the fields are bare, I was carrying the snow shoes here.

It was a warm day at 10 and some sunny breaks. The creek was flowing quite strong just from snow melt.
Forecast is for 15-20 mm of rain tonight so most of the snow will be gone.
Late afternoon I went cycling, I just cycled roads to Winsloe to the bypass highway and then back home, about 20 km. Very windy, gusts to 50 km/h and the temp was down to 8 by the time I got home.
I attended a retired firefighter meeting this evening.
