Blowing snow all day, winds at times gusting to 80 km/h. In the morning I used the snow shoes to go to the neighbors. That was when I took this photo, I gusting wind was around the 60-65 km/h at the time.
Temp was -3 and it now is -5.
A heads up to all the faithful follows of my blog, I am on the road for the next week or so. So I will not be posting every day.

Watching curling this evening

Snow shoeing & cycling

In the morning I was snowshoeing the Winter River trail.

Not all in the photo but I think there was about hundred turned for the event. I went about 4 km.

I was out for a hour with this group in Cornwall. Afterwards I went cycling and rolled on 25 km.
It was sunny at +5 with light wind, this evening I was cards in Hampshire
The video is the Winter River.

Cycling day

In the morning I replaced both pivot straps on my snowshoes.

It was sunny at zero with a light wind so I went cycling. I cycled to Victoria park, the street was wet and the harbour is full of ice.  The road were dry but near all the streets had water on them in places.

I cycled the trail from the Kensington road to the bypass highway. The city grooms the trail so it is packed snow, the sun had soften the snow so it was okay to cycle on. I had logged 32 Km for the ride.

Afternoon walk

After lunch I went for a walk on the snowshoes, My tracks were the only fresh ones in this field.
Looking ahead there were no tracks, this field is next to the MacPhail creek.

If you look close you can see the top of the Cornwall water tower in this photo. It was a bit colder so the snow was very good for snowshoeing, I was out for 75 minutes and walked 4 km.

Walk in Silence

At noon I took part in the Walk in Silence in Charlottetown, I guessing close to a hundred took part.

Later in the afternoon I was out on the snowshoes, There was someone out before me using what looks like bearpaw shoes.

No sun today, but it did get a little bright to the west, this was taken near the business park.  The high temperature for the day was 2

Kids on sledding hill.

I was snowshoeing with the Cornwall group this morning, as we got back to the Terry Fox Sport complex
this group of kids were tubing on the hill.

It was mild at +1 and the snow was wet, it was sticking to the snowshoes which made it more of a workout.
No cards at Warren Grove tonight.

Tracks in fresh snow

I was out on the snowshoes for 75 minutes in the afternoon, these tracks look like rabbit tracks.

There was one other person out on snow shoes before me, unfortunately he only went for a short distance.

I think these tracks were made by a coyote, it was sinking well into the fresh snow.
I walked 3.5 km and was breaking track for other 2 km of it, that made for a bit of a work out.
Sunny with light wind at -2

Second day of storm

After lunch I to a 45 minute walk in the woods near home, seems like about 50 cm of loose snow, even with the snowshoes it was hard work breaking trail.

Lots of snow on the trees as well. It was about -4 and the wind was still gusting to 50 km/h.
As I post this the wind down to light and temp is falling to -10

Storm day

Blizzard conditions all day, about 20 cm of snow so far and winds have been 45-50 gusting to 75 km/h all day.  Temp holding around -6 so snow is doing a lot of drifting.

About the only traffic on our road has been the snow plow.
So I walked 3 km on the Weslo, watching junior curling this evening.

Skiing

Mid afternoon I went out on the skis for a hour, not good skiing because no base to the snow. In the

cultivated fields the skis were hitting the soil.  It was a hazy sun at -12 with light wind.

A few hay bales piled up at the edge of the field, I am guessing they will be there for the winter.
I put my glove on the snow to give some idea of the size of the coyote poop.
I was to Hunter River this evening to play auction cards, won men's top prize.

Sunset

This photo taken about 5:45, street lights just coming on.
A very cold day at -17 and with the wind gusting to 60 km/h the wind chill near -30.

About 5:20 the wind had died down so I went out on the snowshoes foe 30 minutes, This photo taken about 5:40 looking towards the west.  Because of the cold I spend some time on the tread mill.

Beck trail

This morning I snowshed the Beck trail with the east group, we completed the red loop, about 4.4 km.
Fresh snow and braking trail for about half of it, with snow on the trees it was very nice hike.

At Vernon Bridge on the way home I saw all these ducks in the water, looks like several hundred.
It was sunny at -7 with no wind by noon. Early in the morning it was -19 at my place.

Eagle

I was snowshoeing with the Cornwall group in the morning, omly three of us today.
Midafternoon I was out again, and saw this eagle near the MacPhail barns.

With the number of coyote tracks and the fresh trampled down usually means that had lunch at this spot.
Very cold day at -12 and windy in morning, gusts to 45 km/h but the wind dropped off in late afternoon.

Walk in storm

About 2:00 I went for a walk, still snowing and the wind was gusting to 60 km/h. But in the woods it wasn't too bad. Lots of fresh snow in the woods, this trail is close to the business park.

Lots of snow on the trees to blow off with the high wind.
I walked to the business park and towards the York Point road with the wind on my back.

I was near home when I took this photo, both snow falling and blowing snow. I was out for 75 minutes.
I used the blower twice to clear the driveway today.

Walk in the snow

There was light snow in the air when I went for a walk after lunch. I walked to the business park and towards the water tower.  -4 at the time.

This was in the woods near the ball field, there was one person out before me by the foot prints in the snow.
By the gps unit I walked 5 km.  There is a blizzard warning issued for tomorrow, sure doesn't look like it now but may change overnight.

Winter Woodlot Tour

They were showing how to build a fire in the woods, could have used a bigger one as it was -12.

This is one of our PEI coyotes.

A nice team of horse but really needed a bit of snow for them to do logging.
The tour was on the Millboro road near Brookfield.  A sunny but cold day.
I was to Hampshire for cards in the evening.

Victoria Park

Today I cycled into Victoria park, sunny at -3 but the wind was gusting to 50 km/h.

There were a few people walking the boardwalk. The yellow at the bottom left is my glove.

I cycled from the park to the trail at Grafton St, then to Sherwood road, then to Lower Malpeque and on to home.  The last photo is at the North River bridge looking north, last week it was almost frozen totally over but with the mild weather over the last two days the channel is starting to open.
