I started cycling 15 years ago for the exercise.
Motto: Slow and steady is the way to go.
I now spend a lot of time on the trail as a volunteer.
I like to travel as well, normally by car but for the long distances I will fly.
This small bird was on the traveled part of the trail and I cycled pass it. I stopped thinking it was a young bird just out of the nest. I took this photo, and erred in zooming in and taking another photo from where I was standing. I took a couple steps towards it and all three just flew away. If you are able to zoom in , you can see it has a long beak.
Lots of dandelions in North Wiltshire. Sunny at a cool 15 and a north wind. This morning I guided a group of 10 hikers around Cornwall on the trails for 90 minutes.
The Monday evening ride starts at Sherwood road, there was 20 in the group today. I visited with neighbors in morning and mowed the lawn after lunch. I cycled to the Sherwood road and then to York and back home logging over 30 km. Sunny at 22
I spend the morning in Brudenell helping with traffic control for the Red Rock Relay race, two legs of the race are runners, two of cyclists and finishes with canoeing.
These two geese were checking out this newly seeded grain field. Overcast with mist at times and a temp of 10.
Today I cycled from New Zealand to the east end of the trail which is Elmira. I had logged over 40 km by the time I was back to the car.
The marker at Elmira is showing that the main trail is 273 km long.
The robin chicks must be hatching as this is the second time I have seen the egg shells on the trail. Sunny with a high of 26 which is a new high for this date.
This evening I cycled from Kinkora to Borden Carleton. I stopped at Gateway Village took this photo of a bridge section. Mostly sunny with a high of 20.
I came across this Trillium while walking the trail in Bonshaw today.
This is the group that was walking with me this morning, about a two hour walk. Then this evening I had a hour walk on the Winter Bay trail and then attended a Island trail meeting in Corran Ban.
I cut the grass this morning for the third time this season. The leaves are starting to open on the trees. Showers in the afternoon and evening with a high of 16. I was to the wood lot for a couple hours in afternoon. And I was to Warren Grove to play cards.
On the way home from cycling I stopped at the North River bridge and took this photo.
This evening was the first of the weekly Monday night rides, there was 14 cyclists in the group. High for the day was 16 but it was down to 10 by the time I got home. I visited neighbors in morning and yard work in afternoon.
This well at Harmony Junction was flowing very well.
Someone had put out some food and this squirrel didn't mind me taking his photo, this was only a couple km from Souris. Rain this morning with clearing late in the day, high temp was 10. I had breakfast at the Red Shores and was doing errands in Charlottetown. I was to cards in Hampshire this evening.
I stopped at the bridge in Selkirk and saw these two ducks in the pond / river.
Just As I was ready to leave Selkirk, I looked up the river and saw this canoe coming.
I drove to Souris, about 100 km. I then cycled from Souris to Marie on the trail, about 40 km. Then a fellow TO drove me back to Souris to get my car. I then drove home and by then it was 4:30. Mostly cloudy with a few sunny breaks and a high of 24.
If you are looking for some dandelions to make some wine, there is lots in this field. It was sunny at 25, it really felt like spring is here. I mowed the lawn in morning, turned the compost after lunch and then got a ride to O'Leary and cycled to Ellerslie. 10:00 by the time I got home.
This den is close to Allen street, there was four pups but as I tried to get photo two left but these two were interested in me. I had my car inspected this morning. After lunch I went cycling, Charlottetown to York and back. Partly sunny with a temp of 15.
Last night saw 25 mm of rain and another 12 mm this morning. I transplanted this pine tree a couple of weeks ago. No need to worry about watering it for a few days. I attended a TO meeting in the morning and was to the Canadian Blood Services appreciation night this evening.
I was cycling in the Cardigan area today, there were Marigolds for 400 meters in this area.
Yesterday evening while driving though Hunter River this fox was on the side of the road. We stopped to get photo but it did not paid us any attention. It was misty this morning and again this evening at 7, but some sunny breaks, I was cycling in shirt sleeves. The blog site was down last night, you could view but not input, so that why no post yesterday.
I hiked the Breadalbane trail this morning, we hiked the full trail, about 6 km.
This is part of the group, there was 15 in all. For some reason, there was more women then men.
This is the nest of a mallard duck, about 5 meters for the river. The duck left the nest as we were walking by, otherwise I would never known it was there. Overcast this morning, rain this afternoon at 7, I attended a firefighters meeting in the evening.
I took a 30 minute though the woods, I believe these are ferns, but are they fiddleheads?
My rain gauge was showing 34 mm this morning, so the stream is flowing well again. Rain most of the day at 6. No cycling today but did go to Warren Grove to play cards.
The other day I checked the trail in the ball field woods, a tree fell on the trail, this is what it looked like after some work with the saw.
And this is before I started. Overcast this morning, showers after lunch that changed to steady rain at a temp of 6. I visited neighbors this morning and went cycling for a hour after lunch between showers in the Mount Stewart area.
This is a few of the murder of crows in York, I am guessing about 50 crows total.
I cycled from Brackley to Tracadie Cross and turned at marker 196. I logged 38 km for the trip. Mostly cloudy but it was warm enough to cycle in shirt sleeves, about 19. All the family came to the house for supper and board games.
This old engine is in Kensington, this afternoon I cycled on the trail from Kensington to Linkletter on the west side of Summerside and back. About a 40 km ride. Mostly cloudy at high of 16.

It moved to the bushes but watched me going by, can you spot it? look fot the ears and eye.
I took this photo of the evening sun on the trees in Milton. I visited family in morning, in the afternoon I was to the wood lot and this evening cycled Milton to Hunter River and back, about 33 km. The high temp was 15 but it was down to 8 by the time I got home from cycling.
This field has not been worked or farmed for a few years, give it another two or three years and it will be a major job to clear it. We had a little light rain mid afternoon at a temp of 16. No cycling today but I had a 30 minute walk though the woods.
