River and a quiz

Looking north from the bridge over North River, very little ice. Years ago by mid January there would be horse races on the ice and many vehicles driving out to watch the races. When I was giving my children driving instructions, we would go out on the ice to practice skid control. I don't know if they remember doing that but I hope they remember how to control a skid.

Any guesses on what this old piece of farm equipment was used for?

Mostly sunny to day with some wind, Low temp was 2 and a high of 5. total of 30 km on EB, two sessions, one in morning and the other in evening. I was to a noon lunch with Crime Stoppers at the Dutch Inn and went cycling for a hour around town logging 18 km. This was my first cycling this year. As I have Aspen apart replacing bearings in the bottom end, I used my back up bike. I had to order the bearings and I am waiting them to come in.

Stream

Windy and rain in morning, clearing late in the day. Low temp 1 and high of 9. 12 km on EB.
With the rain and wind the snow is almost all gone. I took a 40 minute walk in the woods in afternoon and in many places no snow. I attended a town meeting at 4:30 and a church meeting at 7:00.

Overcast with a little rain mid afternoon, 90 km winds forecast for tonight. Low temp was -13 and the high now is 1. 12 km on EB this morning. Late afternoon I went for a 40 minute walk in the woods by the ball field, I logged 3,500 steps.

Ski tracks

Ski tracks though a field that I often travel, The grass/hay was not cut last summer.

I am finding it hard to find something to take a photo when I use my shadow.

Sunny with light wind, Low temp of -12 and a high of -3. 19 km on EB.
I was out on the skis for 90 minutes after lunch, logged 7 km. Watched curling in late afternoon and again this evening.

Mostly overcast with sunny breaks, a little light snow as well. Low temp was -9 and the high of -3.5. I had breakfast with the retired fighters in morning. At 3:00 I went skiing for a hour and 40 minutes logging 7.5 km. It was -6 went I was out. 12 km on EB. Watching curling this evening.

Although we had 1 cm of snow early in the day, the fields are bare in places.

Overcast with sunny breaks and light snow at times. Low was -8 with a high of -1.
I donated plasma in the morning, I worked some on the bicycle after lunch and went skiing at 3:30 for 75 minutes and logged 5 km. It was -6 while I was skiing. 10 km on EB.

I was to the town office in the morning and spend most of the afternoon on the phone with customer support trying to get Simply Accounting to work on my computer, no luck.
I was out on the skis for 30 minutes just before supper.
